PERSONALITY: He may overuse the word "awesome" and seem like an egocentric idiot, and a complete narcissist, but to tell the truth--well, he is an egocentric idiot. And a narcissist. But, only to a point. Part of the reason that he uses the word "awesome" so much is to convince himself and the people around him that he does not need anybody else thinking that he is great. That's he's fine without anybody else's compliments and company. He certainly is a narcissist as well, but it's also to convince himself that he doesn't need anybody else to love him.

In all truth, he despises being alone. He feels jealous of people around him with lovers and wishes deep down that he did have a significant other. But of course, he doesn't show this, and makes fun of those lovers in order to hide this fact. And here we come to the reason as to why he gloats so much. It's to show himself that he is much better than anybody else. That he doesn't need anybody's help to stand on top. That he can defeat people easily, and they can't do anything about it. He probably has a slight insecurity issue.

While he refuses to show it, he actually does care about the people around him a lot, despite his gloating and taunting. He loves his family and would never let any harm come to them, and is also extremely protective of them. While they may seem annoying and a pain to him (though usually it actually is him being the annoyance and the pain), he would fight for them, and ensure their safety, no matter what.

Despite always acting as if he loves fighting (which he really does), he doesn't like to kill as much. He does have some morals, and he would never kill another unless the situation really calls for it. He would certainly fight them though, and their injuries may range from minor to severe, but he would do his best to avoid killing them. On the battlefield, though, is a different matter. He would kill on the battlefield, as there is no other choice. To spare another would mean death.

Gilbert may seem extremely annoying at first glance. And at second, and third, and the rest of the glances. In truth, he is certainly annoying. He jumps into things, makes a lot of noise, adds useless comments, acts like an idiot, gloats and mocks other people, and gets himself into brawls and arguments. However, he can actually be quiet and sit himself down to think through things, occasionally. Though he usually ends up noisy after that anyway.

Though Gilbert acts like an idiot most of the time as well, he is not lacking intellectual much at all. He is clever, though he doesn't show it. He seems to prefer playing the fool most of the time. While times he shows his intellect are considerably rare, he does do so. Occasionally. When the situation really does call for it.

Gilbert has a tendency of defying authority as well. Especially when they are not doing what he thinks is right or just. He would ignore the rules, no matter the consequence, and tends to do as he wants. Though he usually ends up suffering for that afterwards.

He has a habit of lying to himself. An example of this is how he always tells himself that "it's fun to be alone", while he doesn't really believe that at all. In fact, he hates being alone, but tells himself that so as to try and convince himself that he really does enjoy being alone.

Gilbert looked through his uncle's closet, searching desperately for a black suit and pants--his closet definitely did not carry such formal wear, and while he usually would never dream of wearing such unawesome clothing, today was an exception.

His uncle's funeral was scheduled to be on a Monday.

Today.

He finally found what he was looking for, and sighed in relief. As much as he despised formal clothing, he was wearing as a form of respect. Gilbert gave a bittersweet smile as he thought of the irony--that Old Fritz had constantly tried to get Gilbert into a formal suit, but it was only his death that had gotten Gilbert to wear it. And Old Fritz wasn't even there to see him wear it.

After changing into his uncle's clothes--and scowling at how uncomfortable and overall unawesome wearing it was--he stepped out of the house. He wasn't looking forward to the funeral at all.

Especially since it meant having to greet and entertain the guests--he really couldn't stand how stuffy some of them were. What did they have up their ass, a stick? He didn't know how his uncle managed to stand them.

His uncle. Gilbert felt a wave of melancholy wash over him as he thought of dear, beloved Old Fritz. He was the only one who was as awesome as Gilbert. Possibly even more awesome than him.

He missed him. Terribly.
